Mariner’s outfielder Itchiro Suzuki donated 100 million yen (about 1.24 million dollars) to his home country Japan. He donated the money to the Japanese Red Cross to help in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami.

The Mariners majority owners, Nintendo, also donated 3.7 million dollars to help with disaster relief. The Mariners are going to dedicate their first six home games of the upcoming MLB season to the displaced and victims of the earthquake and tsunami.

Japanese athletes have shown great compassion and sorrow for their home country following the earthquake and tsunami. This is only one example.
