Slam! That’s the sound of the door shutting on the Mav’s chances to win a NBA Title. The Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavs 88-86 in Game 3 to take a 2-1 advantage. I recently wrote a post about the Heat’s woes in the 4th quarter, but in this game they were able to overcome them and win a close one.

Dwyane Wade took over the 4th quarter, matching Mav’s star Dirk Nowitzki who had 15 4th quarter points and the Mav’s last twelve. Wade had the response for all the shots Dirk made, finishing with 8 in the 4th and 29 in the game. Every time Dallas scored to tie or make the game close, the Heat responded by hitting 3’s, contributed by Mario Chalmers, Wade, and Lebron James. Chris Bosh hit the clutch game winning jumper with about 4o seconds left, and Dirk was unable to tie the game at the buzzer when he missed a jumper at the free throw line.

The Heat finished the game, they made their shots, and they played tough defense forcing Nowitzki into turnovers and difficult shots. James has struggled down the stretch, but when one of the “Big 3” struggles the other two step up big, which they did, Bosh and Wade were both clutch.

The Heat haven’t been as good on the road as they have been at home, but I still expect them to close out the series in Dallas and win in 5 games. They are a good team, and they have the initiative now, when they are healthy and have the bench contributing they are unbeatable in a series.

A question that I brought up last time, when Lebron James wins a championship, how will you feel about him?

Heat lost the game, but Lebron James got the highlight. This is what you call a dunk, and it emphasizes that the Heat were hitting the boards hard in the first 3 quarters of the game. D Wade also had a put back dunk in this game. Here is the video, enjoy.
